My Interview

I leaned back against the sofa I shared with two others person. Each person held either a large envelope or file in his or her hand. Everyone was nervous although they tried to look so relaxed. Actually I was so nervous too at that moment. This was my first interview.

The room that all the candidates were sitting in was air-conditioned. A girl was sitting in front of me. Deep in my heart, I did not like her although we did not know each other. She told me that this was her second interview and she was very confident to pass this interview due to her experience before. How proud she was! I just ignored her.

The door marked ‘Conference room’ opened and a young lady stepped out then she called my name. When entered the room, I saw three people were seated together behind a large long table. In front of them was a chair on which I was indicated to sit. I said good morning and one of them asked me to sit.

“Nor Fazreen Bt Kamarruddin? Please introduce yourselft,” asked the interviewer. Then I explained about myself. “You want to be a teacher? Why?” the same men asked.
“Yes, I want to be a teacher because I want to pass on all the knowledge and experiences to my students which I have attained throughout life as a student and educator,” I replied.
After the opening questions, I felt myself answering their questions confidently and spontaneously. Before left the room, one of the interviewers asked me a question, “why you did not want to be a doctor? You are Science students right?” Then I answered him, “although I am not a doctor but I know being a teacher, I can produce many doctors in the future. He was smiling at me and I shuffled out of the room after said thank you.

I felt so happy because I just finished my interview. After 1 month later, I got the result. I passed my interviewed very well. I got offered from University of Education Sultan Idris (UPSI) majoring in Biology. Now, I fell very happy because my dream to be a teacher comes true.

Definition

Few opportunities are available to casually observe and easily learn from other teachers. Little time is available to consult with one's colleagues about a difficult student, a persistent management problem, or a lesson disaster. That is what we call reflection of teaching and learning.

Worthwhile Education

University is a place where there are many people of diverse cultures and attitudes. The first things I learned in UPSI were there are so many different kinds of people. I experienced the pain and pleasure of getting to know my friends. I discovered my own strengths and weaknesses. I learn the meaning of tolerance, teamwork and cooperation. All the experiences taught me how to handle life without getting too much trouble.

I will be a teacher 3 years from now. Insya-Allah. So I must ready mentally to face any situation in the school involving my students. Sports, games and curriculum activities showed me that students have been given opportunity to involve in those activities. I must realise that not all the student are competitive because few are not. All the physiology’s knowledge that I learn in UPSI, of course as a teacher and facilitator, I will practise and guide them to overcome any problem in the future.

All I can say is my education has been worthwhile. I may not become a perfect teacher but I know I can make my students happy with my style of teaching. Deep in my heart, I know that the all the experiences in UPSI were priceless. What I am today is the direct result of my education. Thank you to all my lecturers because they prepared so much knowledge for me.

Diverse of Culture

A race is a group of people who have their own set of belief, religion, culture and other special characteristics. Members of the any races are very proud of their races and would defend what they are believed in or their way of life if they are threatened in any way.

So, when two or more races stay together in the same place, conflict are bound to occur, but the problem can be avoid if we are tolerate for each other. We in Malaysia are in this position. There are three major races here, the Malays, the Chinese and the Indians and with small ethnic groups. So far we managed very well to stay as one nation.

We learned to tolerate each other and accept their culture without any discrimination. We are come from different races. Malaysia does not have any big problems between the races. So the next thing we must do is thankful because having Malaysia as our mother land.

Yesterday, I went to Japanese festival. The festival held on 18-22 of October. I am glad to go there because I like to know more about their culture. Besides having the diverse culture in our country, it is priceless experiences to go there and got some new knowledge. Here I put some pictures that were taken by me on that day.

Acidification of Milk

Am I will be good teacher?

How does my teaching style compare to the styles of my colleagues? Am I very confident to deal with any student problem that arises in the course of the day? This questions always spring into my mind. Teachers spend most of their days alone in their own classrooms, with their own students. So, I must know to manage my class soon.

I searched much information about class management. I want to share will all people who will be the teacher. From my information that I searched in the Internet, there are many ways to establish a classroom climate conducive to learning such as has a positive classroom management, safe and developmentally appropriate environment, efficient organization of time and materials, and effective transitions. All those things are very important to support students and be effective learners.

How to provide a positive environment? Here some tips to all the becoming teachers include me to practice during the class room.
1. Uses classroom time effectively to provide maximum time for learning;
2. Manages instructional transitions decisively, effectively, and without loss of instructional time;
3. Arranges and sets up materials and equipment to facilitate their effective and efficient use during lessons

Teaching Statement

Why I decided to enter the teaching profession?
I am very interested in this profession because this is a very honour job. I want to pass on all the knowledge and experiences to my students which I have attained throughout life as a student and educator. This profession is like an investment because I just can see the result (means the success of my students) in the future either they being a good human being or not.

Definition of teaching
In my opinion, teaching means being committed to apply the knowledge learned to one's life. For me education provides a foundation for a child survive in his or her life to make any decision throughout the life. Students are like one white paper which need someone to teach and decorates them and teacher is an ‘architect’ who can help to built them better and better.

Style of my teaching
My style of teaching is more to be a friendly teacher. I want to Develop good relationships between the teacher and the students. As I am working on a more friendly teacher, they will enjoy their lesson during my class and follow all the activities that I plan to do. I will build a positive atmosphere in the school by trying new teaching methods without fear of failure.
To avoid my students from felt boring, I will use any alat bantu mengajar(ABM) like using Smart board. One of the benefits using this software is to attract the student’s attention. I will be a creative teacher during teaching them in the class, not just give a lecture but act as a facilitator.

My vission is to help my students learn and develop as individuals
I want to provide them to become good future leaders which have good characters such as self-esteem, discipline, and respect for other people. Since I have a passion for education, I will manage and lead my student to become a good person who can give benefits to country

Wrongdoings in experiment

Experiment of enzyme
Material: Bunsen Burner, Test tube, dropper, starch, Enzyme amylase and iodin

Then, we measure the starch 20ml

Placed the starch into test tube
Put the enzyme and iodin

Observed the changed colour from colourless to dark blue

Result of the Experiment
Dark Blue turn into colourless

We got a correct result in the experiment.
But this experiment cannot be used for our Data Logger because we had a wrong plan. Data logger cannot be used to detect the Rate of reaction of enzyme
